A phrase that keeps popping into my head today is “hoist on his own petard.

Mine is “the law of unintended consequences.”

Before this, with rare exceptions (Gabby Giffords), the gun problems were far away. They honor our officers with speeches on the House floor and bemoan the “attack on the 2nd Amendment,” but it’s not REAL to them. It’s platitudes and optics.

Well, now one of YOU was on the receiving end of a rifle, in YOUR safe place. Shit just got real.
