re: #149 Nojay UK

The US President is an elected king, not a civil servant. They get all the clearances they want regardless of their history before they are sworn into office on a cold January day in Washington DC. After that the only limitation they face on their absolute rule for the next four years is impeachment by Congress.

Sure it’s a bad idea but the Founding Fathers were working with a limited toolbox and they went with an elected king.

Not at all. Their intention was to concentrate power in the Congress, like the good republicans they were, but in the course of two hundred years, every crisis left more power in the hands of the executive.

Add to that that one party now consists of toadies who want their object of worship to rule them from the White House, and you have the situation in which we now find ourselves.
