I think it’s the environment created by Fox News and the Tea Party. Wingnuts have been wallowing in this for years and for now they’re stuck like this. Nutty candidates like Palin have an irresistible attraction. Even Somebody like Trump, who had absolutely nothing in common with “conservatism”, was irresistible because he has all the nutty reality show appeal that wingnuts are attracted to.

Then I would say that they’re putting profit ahead of politics. IOW, Fox News can make a lot of money pandering to the wingnuts. Selling Trump, Palin, Bachmann, etc. Now of course I say this because Fox is the mouthpiece of the GOP. So while it may line the pockets of Roger Aisles it makes for poor politics and policy. Especially on a national level. Fox News may have high rating yet it still represents a minority of Americans.
