For starters, it inflates the city’s expense so much that the city hasn’t been able to hire the number of police it needs. That helps contribute to crime, which is a factor for everyone, even downtown.
Chicago’s corruption hasn’t “made my life miserable”, but it has at times made it worse.
I have to agree with Dark on this one. Corruption hurts everyone (except the ones collecting the bribes).
