The missing part of that story is always the ‘why’. Why is beating the Democrats so important that people like Mark Kirk are thereby justified in doing this kind of crap to appeal to the cavemen of the GOP base?

Because if you view politics as a game instead of something that actually affects people’s lives, the ‘why’ doesn’t matter, just winning.
