That’s why I can’t stand conservative evangelicals. They blast liberal Christians for “wrongly interpreting scripture” and they champion people like Trump. They’re why young people aren’t interested in Christianity.

They’ve been doing that as long as the Evangelical movement has existed. And Catholics bashed all Protestants. And various Protestant groups have bashed each other.

An alternative explanation for the decline of religious belief worldwide (not just in the USA) is “the Internet is where religion goes to die.” Their false or unproven assertions can be fact-checked in near-real time.
