My ex-wife and I had our honeymoon down in the Charlottesville area, and we visited Monticello. This was a mistake.

Comparing Monticello to Mount Vernon, I was shocked at how much TJ didn’t give a shit, about just about everything. Then, when I was reading up on Adams, found out how duplicitous a douchebag TJ was to his good friend.

It took five years for me to recognize anything positive about Jefferson.

Still don’t like him.

I don’t dislike him but I don’t like raising him to secular sainthood either since he had so many blatant flaws. I think Adams is greatly under-appreciated. I actually think one of the most amazing things about Adams was defending the Massacre defendants. He really believed in the basic right of counsel which is such an important principle in any society.
