As I posted downstairs, this was domestic terrorism. It wasn’t a mere random shooting. The victims were targeted specifically because of what they were doing at the time - protesting that black lives matter. The protesters were peacefully demonstrating against police brutality and excessive force incidents. The perpetrators would not let that go - and wanted to send a message that those black lives just don’t matter.

And the perpetrators shot at the crowd to intimidate them and get them to reconsider future protests.

It’s terrorism, and it should be treated as such.

But yet, it likely won’t. The investigators will downplay the terrorism angle, the prosecutor likely won’t pursue terrorism charges, and the men will probably find themselves behind bars on attempted murder charges. Why? Because they’re white men and we all know that white men can’t be terrorists. Just ask Dylann Roof.
