“A number of Republicans emerging from closed-door meeting worried their speaker candidates can’t get 217 on the floor,” Raju posted to X. “Some fear if they can’t this time, more Rs will want to cut a deal with Dems to reopen House.”

“They don’t want to work with Democrats, but it might end up to be a point where that’s the only way,” said Rep. Vern Buchanan (R-FL). “We’ve got to get the government open. People are very angry, upset.”

Folks were telling you all the way back in January that it was inevitable that the loonies would pull the lever and eject Qev. Every time it looked like he was peeving them just a little, talk was immediately about whether or not this would be the thing that sent them to the floor with a vacate motion.

But instead of nipping this in the bud or at the very least cultivating a back-up Speaker that could be put forward when it happened, you kept acting as though things were under control and if you just kept feeding the tiger red meat it would let you ride it forever. Now here you are, whining because the tiger’s biting your ass and the only people who can help you are the ones you’ve been pissing on for ages. Sucks to suck.
