You’re taking to an artist who does some abstract stuff. :D Though most of what I do is representational silly fantasy genre art, I’m no snooty gallery haunt. You’re probably referring to stuff like Jackson Pollock, which does look like that, but his thing was always about painting as evidence of his gestural energy.

Anyway, one of my favorite abstract artists from history is Mark Rothko: en.wikipedia.org

His work does not really translate well digitally, his paintings are enormous, and in person they vibrate with contrasting color, because he was essentially creating these layered color experiments, watching the hues interact with each other. They have a sort of sinsiter presence I really like. It’s good stuff to learn about color from!
