I assumed that, beyond the Christian Zionist aspect, the pro-Israel posturing was aimed at elderly Jews in Florida, because although places like New York, Illinois, and California are off the table for the GOP, the “Del Boca Vista” vote can be added to the anti-Castro Cuban vote and the redneck vote and give them a shot at taking the state.
