I have a buddy who still works for the power company, but they took him off the poles a few years ago. Maybe they just needed a supervisor on the ground, he’s only 55 now.

55 is actually a limit that the union has to get off the poles and stay on the ground, if the lineworker wants to take advantage of it.
Hubs will privately whine to me about how his feet and legs ache, but he will still climb as long as he can.
