Life in Corpus is getting back to normal. Our internet and phones were restored at the facility where I work, which makes life much easier. I’m still trying to get people paid, as their paychecks did not arrive on Friday and are still lost somewhere. You’d think a large corporation would be able to look out for their employees better, but what if those 13 people get paid twice???? Can’t take that chance, so the employees are shit out of luck until FedEx can locate the checks (FedEx and UPS are still not running here). Additionally we were told yesterday by corporate HR that we will not be paid for sleep time during the hurricane. Even though we HAD to be there. Cause, you know, gotta manage that overtime.

I’m left feeling torn, because I hate the corporation I work for but I love the residents I serve. I stay because I care but it gets harder and harder to do.
