The methane outgassing means that the more pessimistic outlooks should be adopted, which do result in billions dead.

What have you read, exactly, Walter? I’ve seen plenty of studies that show that, if the worst-case scenarios— like dramatic methane outgassing— occurr, that billions will die. How have you manged to miss the implications of things like 3 billion people having to move or starve due to climate change?

I’ve read that article, and it has been linked here a number of times. That article does not mention “billions and billions of deaths”… you even make that obvious in your quote… “3 billion people having to move or starve due to climate change.”

I have not been able to find anything by peer-reviewed scientist that uses terms like “catastrophic,” “devastating” or “billion and billion will die.” I’m open to being guided to statement like that.
