China is fastest growing market for luxury goods. But there are lots of starving children in China still. Only the top levels of society are enjoying the fruits of China’s economic growth.

I learned some new Chinese phrases today that are fitting.

红二代 — hong erdai — offspring of China’s founders, like the current president, Xi Jinping. 红 = red. 二代 = second generation
管二代 — fu erdai — offspring of the very wealthy (aka spoiled rich kids: little emperors and empresses)
富二代 — guan erdai — offspring of government officials, who benefit financially from business deals

These are the people who buying those $250,000 home IMAX theaters.

Chinese customers prefer American luxury vehicles, like Cadillac and Lincoln, over Japanese and European cars.
