Here’s a question for some of youse guys who follow the auto industry closer than I.

Hummer used to be a military vehicle. It is poorly suited to regular highway travel (sits too high, is way too wide, slow, noisy, sucks gas like…er…uses a lot of gas). Now Ahnuld out in Cali started driving one, other celebs and wannabes piled on, and Hummer went commercial.

Some small sanity or simple market economics led to the Hummer2 and Hummer3, both smaller truck-based vehicles. They ain’t really Hummers, or more precisely they’re Hummers like a Radio Flyer is a dump truck.

Anyway, where is the military Hummer made now? Does GM put it out, or is that a separate division?
