He was asked who his favorite Sox player was while growing up. He said he didn’t have one because he grew up as an A’s fan.

So, he didn’t have a favorite Sox player growing up. What did you want him to say?

For example, I’m a huge Blackhawks fan now, but I paid zero attention to the local team. I was a Bruins fan. If someone asked me who my favorite Hawks player was growing up, I would say “No one. I didn’t pay much attention to the Blackhawks back then.”

That answer doesn’t make me less of a fan now.
