That was his old family name, and I’m guessing that he doesn’t like it and finds it annoying or derogatory. I imagine that I want to use it for the same reasons that right wing jackasses want to call Elliot Ellen.

I mean, if your intent is to deny that he’s actually someone other than who he himself states he is, then they probably are equivalent.

Those deliberately calling Elliot Ellen are doing it to deny that he’s the gender he claims to be.
