Here’s a funny (but true) Halloween story.
Years ago I was elk hunting in central Oregon. Stopped by to visit some friends at a remote Forest Service Ranger Station on Halloween night. So remote the black top began 50 miles down the gravel road. About 15 families lived at this station. The traditional Halloween custom at the station was for the wives to take the kids trick or treating around the houses while the husbands stayed home to pass out the goodies. Another part of the custom was for the wives to carry a martini class. So at each house the kids got candy and the wives a martini. Of course the husbands at each house had to have a drink along with each trick or treater. By 9 PM not a creature was stirring.
