Really, unless you depend on old, propriety software, you should get 64. One of the advantages of it is that it can handle more than 2 gigs of ram without problem; it’s also simply superior in memory execution in general.

Are there any old programs you absolutely have to have?

I don’t think so. So long as I can still open old photos and documents and spreadsheets, I’ll be good.
