Exactly. Illinois had an older law that specifically forbade recording cops, but it was struck down as unconstitutional. The Federal DOJ has been quite explicit about trying to educate local police that the public has the right to photograph and record cops on duty.
I dunno, Frank. I was talking with my best friend and a mutual friend of ours about three weeks ago and I brought up exactly what you’ve said. My best friend said his understanding was that we were both wrong and Illinois had indeed reinstated the ban on most recording of police officers.
I’m not trying to be argumentative, but I’m hearing contradictory things on this matter.
