Yeah, at Trump’s age, sentencing him to ten years in Federal prison would basically be like strapping him into Old Sparky.

while all this is all true, there has to be some symbolism of the punishment vis a vis the seriousness of the crime and who committed it and how.

i dont care if he ‘only’ has 10 years to live
you sentence him to 100, or whatever…

otherwise it will be meaningless to the next guy
