I wasn’t quite specific enough. You don’t need a hunting license to keep what you kill with your car. It’s more of a consolation prize to someone who hits a deer. If the deer doesn’t kill them. My dad had a co-worker who’s son was killed when he hit a deer and it came through the windshield.

We’ve got deer everywhere down here. We even have the occasional bear wandering around.

That’s the same here if you kill one with a car. Or, you can call the local Sheriff and let him/her know because they keep a list of people who want the venison.

We’ve had 3 accidents with our cars and deer. Fortunately, everyone came through unscathed. Terrible story about your co-worker’s son. :(
