It is a metaphor for the affirmation of Life. “Would you, given the choice between never existing as yourself or enduring your existence as yourself eternally, without change, choose never to have existed or choose to exist as yourself forever, in an endless loop, without change or substitution?”

It is in fact one of the most Christian of the questions he ever posed.

I’d rather have never existed. I’m not that fond of myself, and parents lives would have been better had they only had my sister.
