Actually I was getting at using a blue tooth enabled device that had an SD port you could plug your card into. But then again, can you plug your camera into a USB port and access it from your MAC?

This may be the easiest solution - if you can connect your camera to the laptop via USB and turn it on like you were going to browse the pictures on the screen, the computer should be able to connect to the memory card. That’s pretty standard.
