Land, ultimately, is wealth, and that’s what it’s always been about. Since the first cro-magnon looked up and saw that the other cro-magnon had a bigger piece of the kill to eat.
I think it’s that and when you live in a place that your ancestors more or less have lived in for generations, you are threatened when you may lose it. Not excusing IRA or Unionist violence by any means but I think that’s a factor too. I also think the Troubles is much more complicated than Catholic v. Protestant.
