re: #176 Wendell Zurkowitz ((slave to the waffle light))

Funny, because I have a lot of principles that I would even call “conservative”. I like free markets, personal responsibility and individual initiative.

But I want markets that benefit everyone, not just the major players.

And I want a government that is responsible for its people’s well being. All of them, and not just the big donors.

And as much as I like individual initiative, I have no problem with people banding together to maximize their bargaining power, be that as unions, consumer organizations, political action groups and not just as corporations.

And as for family values, I value families. Families who need strong schools and sound civic organizations in order to thrive. They need a living wage and working conditions that leave time to raise and nurture families and offer our children a chance to succeed.

There’s conservative values and conservative values. One is something people of all political stripes can live under. The other is a bunch of bs that reactionary minded people have been pushing for a long time.
