Well, they’d naturally become more popular once the existing supply of $1 bills mostly disappears after a few years. It’s not like people would have a choice in the matter at that point. Honestly, I’ve never gotten the resistance to dollar coins in the U.S.
Nor I. I lived in England for a while, and found pound coins very convenient.
But Americans do not like dollar coins. We will not use them. We collect them, but we don’t use them. We seem to have some deeply ingrained dislike of them, and there it is.
