That is something I was wondering earlier, did Pence get bad advice on this or did he ignore good advice? Did his legal advisers tell him what the consequences of this law could be? Did his PR adviser tell him that signing this now, in the middle of the NCAA basketball tournament, wasn’t the wisest idea? Or did they bullshit him about how this would be seen as a great step forward for protecting “religious freedom”?

I can guess they told him that there might be some backlash but that it would blow over quickly…just like Obama’s birth certificate, Benghazi or opposition to ACA.
