So yeah, our High Court returned a verdict that deemed a number of our pollies ineligible to stand in parliament including the Deputy PM and Johnny Depp tormentor, Barnaby Joyce and his deputy party leader, Fiona Nash.
So now the ruling Coalition government’s majority has been erased pending a by-election in Joyce’s electorate in December. Now the Labor opposition is calling into question the legitimacy of parliamentary votes Joyce was instrumental in passing.

If, and it’s a big ‘if’, Joyce loses his election bid, Bill Shorten might be PM before Christmas. That’d be hilarious.

Tony Windsor says he is not running - so Joyce will win. It seems Joyce has the unfair advantage. The senators have lost their seats and will be replaced by someone they defeated at the last election. Barnaby Joyce has lost his seat but he can immediately run for reelection. If would be fairer if the seat went to his closest opponent in the last election (who I think was Tony Windsor) - given he was ineligible to stand at that time.
