There are always the AmEx pre-paid cards which are very convenient for travel, but you have to make sure to load the funds 10 business days before the scheduled travel. Even though AmEx immediately withdraws the funds electronically from your bank account it takes them 10 FREAKING DAYS to load it on the card.

If you order a new pre-paid card from AmEx it takes 10 WEEKS to process.
