The lottery is a tax on people who can’t do math. Besides, most of us have become disillusioned with that as well. We still will tell each other what we’d do if we won, but it seems these days that the winners fall into one of three categories: The pensioner who’ll drop dead before they collect even half of the money, the working poor person who ends up blowing through the lump sum, and finally the large group of people who end up dividing up the winnings.

I see lines of people still buying lottery tickets like they are at the betting window at the track.
