Matt Simons, oil expert and author of “Twilight in the Desert” was on Dylan Ratigan’s show just after the stock market closed. He looked extremely downhearted. He said that this BP rig is the worst disaster in the U.S. he has ever seen. He also has significant doubts that the current solution is going to work. He painted a grim picture of oil covering low lying inhabited areas as a distinct possibility.

Freetoken is correct. Simmons has proven several times over this disaster that he has no idea what he is talking about. He’s said the well will continue leaking at rates far higher than what BP, the government and independent experts predict for years, that Macondo prospect is linked to the much larger but distant Tiber Field, the BOP being blown off the pipe and landing somewhere on the seafloor (and somehow still leaking oil), leaks on the seafloor itself, and other specious claims.

I’m pretty sure he’s just spreading doom and gloom to get in the spotlight.
