Because authoritarians don’t (can’t) understand capitalism. They see employment as serfdom.

Despite all the lip service they pay to the Work Ethic and the social/moral value of labor, they see employees as another commodity to be bought as cheaply as possible and disposed of as soon as they are no longer needed.
