Lots of us still measure wealth and progress in terms of how many resources we consume, not how well we consume them.

It’s simpler to measure quantity rather than quality. So wealth is based on how much someone has, rather than the true value of these possessions. Easier to measure money than wisdom or kindness or happiness.
