If you think it was a intentional slap at special needs kids, you have to assume he was not only heartless, but very stupid. It was a lame attempt at self deprecating humor, a screw up certainly, but nothing sinister.

Of course it wasn’t sinister. It was a very lame exhibit of juvenile humor. Nothing more nor less. Be comfortable with that.
