I think it was a lame attempt at sarcasm. But also misses the fact that the privilege has further divisions even after the racial divide. The commenter did not fall within the right groups farther up the chain to get the benefits.

Which has been part and parcel of the whole use of “race war” as a distraction from “class war”. The upper tier plays off parts of the lower tier against each other while they skim the cream off the top. (Or to flog the other analogy take 10 cookies of the dozen and then tell the two workers that the other worker greedily wants *their* cookie for himself.)

No, it wasn’t sarcasm, this person was in a red-faced, artery-throbbing, spittle-flying rage. All the really ugly stuff got deleted, some of it directed at Interesting Times personally.

You’re right about the rest though, race war is just a distraction form class war.
