I don’t really care about Pelosi being Speaker one way or another. But I do think that any Democrats who vowed to vote against her on the House floor and thereby threatening to give the GOP the Speakership assuming the Dem caucus chose her as their candidate, should be given dead last priority for committee assignments. You can’t reward that kind of shitty, reckless-ass brinksmanship. Fuck them.

I suspect what will happen is that a lot of the folks who talked about not supporting Pelosi will vote for someone else in the caucus meeting, and then if she’s the nominee for Speaker, they’ll vote for her. It allows them to have it both ways, and it’s highly unlikely any of them will be punished by voters for that move.
