B-29’s I think. Some of his pacifism may stem from that. The XXI Bomber Command (which flew the B-29s) was the unit that carried out the incendiary raids on Japan in 1945. It was an effective tactic, but a horrific one, and I can understand his reaction to it, wrong though I still find it.
