Does anyone to whom you’ve debunked it ever say, “Oh, I didn’t know! Thanks!”?

Not for that particular Tweet. I actually have had some people thank me for correcting Fake Quotes, and there is even a wingnut who reTweets my Fake Quote corrections.

But they are few and far between.

The most common response is
1) BLOCK TEH COMMUNIST!!!!!11!!11!!

and

2) Argue that MAYBE JEFFERSON/WASHINGTON/ADAMS/MADISON DIDN’T REALLY SAY THAT BUT HE TOTALLY WOULD HAVE SAID IT IF HE WAS ME!!!11!!1!111
