Well, depends on what you think “what the US has become” means. Even with social issues like SSM won, and ACA being put into effect, there are still going to be fights over immigration reform, minimum wage, the income gap which is contributing to worsening economic conditions for the ordinary person, etc.

To me what the US has become would be at least “more progressive”, but it won’t remain that way if we don’t work to keep it so. It’s going to be a huge election year fight in 2014, and I’m sorry, but I just can’t see allowing anyone the Rs are putting forth to win.

Those are FT’s words not mine. I feel that the Dems can win without nominating Hillary. In 2007, Obama himself looked like a dark horse and here is the first president since Reagan to win two terms with over 50% of the vote in each election.
