My two cents is he’s retaliating for all those unhappy times at school: Chuck against the cruel world. Plus he’s really got a hardline attitude about “purity” and hypocrisy, given his attacks on conservatives’ sexual escapades. I’m sure there’s some fancy shmancy psychological term for his behavior.

I agree that his school experiences seem to be part of his issue and feed his rage.

He does seem to be a malignant narcissist; his reactions to any criticism are consistent with that. I think many of his failures and broken relationships are a result of him attacking people for anything he perceives as a put down. He can’t tolerate any criticism. People who don’t acknowledge his greatness are enemies.

I appreciate the work Charles has done to shine a light on Upchuck’s words and deeds. It’s like cleaning the cat box; a shitty job but if you don’t do it the consequences can be worse than the job.
