Hinds County, MS, has shifted its political allegiance very quickly in recent years. George HW Bush carried it against Bill Clinton 47-45%, but Obama routed Romney 71-28%.

That’s interesting. The county of my birth too was one that Clinton lost to Dole and H.W Bush but is now reliably Democratic. Any reason for Hinds trend that you know of? Fairfax can be explained by the increasing diversity but also more educated voters as a whole there in recent years as well as the GOP’s drift to the right on social issues.
