re: #149 Desert Dog

This is the latest attack on our Sheriff. All I can say is “good luck” with that Feds. Sheriff Joe is a grandstander and a media-whore, BUT, he is usually right on when it comes to legal things. This type of investigation is the only tool they have left to stop him from actually enforcing the laws the Feds refuse to enforce. If they are hoping he caves and stops his way of doing business, they are in for a rude awakening.

The illegal alien problem is Phoenix and Arizona in general is pretty bad. Social services are overwhelmed, schools are being hurt accommodating all of the “non-English” speaking student, and forget about the crime problems that come along with with massive influx. Love him or hate him, Sheriff Joe is actually arresting and getting prosecutions against people here illegally using state laws. That is something the Justice Department cannot say….they all seem to ignore this problem in Washington.

My only concern is the Justice Department will use “whatever means necessary” to shut him down. This has nothing to do with civil rights or human rights, it’s all about political power. The Dems are in bed with the radical La Raza types and this is what you get.

Sadly, it might work. The good news is that Joe Arpaio won’t fold and sign a consent decree, so any case will go to trial. The bad news is that profiling cases are sometimes unwinnable for the defendants. The plantiffs are often able to win by blowing enough smoke at the jury. Too many Americans have been indoctrinated to believe profiling hysteria. How the ends will likely turn on the people’s ability to see through the smoke.

Lastly, it needs to be said that Maricopa County will be hurt no matter how this turns out. These sorts of investigations divert a great amount of time and money into fighting them. Localities often fold because they can’t afford to fight.
