BTW, I think it could be dangerous to do so, because it would be spun by the extremists as being provocative and as evidence of the arrival of the socialist police state.
OTOH, if the threats and incitement are as real and dangerous as some seem to fear, then it could be very useful for the government to be ready… just in case.

I don’t think they’re dangerous enough to require that! The national guard would be monumental overkill. Law enforcement will do the job just fine.
