Alas, PowerPoint is de rigueur for presentations and lectures in education, especially in China. Educators latched onto the latest, greatest thing back in the 1980s and never let go. I’ve lost count of how many truly awful PPT lectures I’ve attended or had to grade as a teacher.

For some assignments, I have to specifically tell my students here no PPTs, or else they’ll recycle something from the Internet Archive of Bad PPTs That Should Have Been Nuked Years Ago.

Students in American universities aren’t much better when they do presentations and I really wish some of the professors would give zeroes if they do death by PowerPoint: I can read the slide just as well as you, thank you very much, I don’t need you to read it to me while making absolutely no eye contact with me.
