I’ve realized doing my genealogical research, two of my four grandparents lost siblings as children, one had two siblings that were still born, and the other lost her mother young. All transcended socio-economic backgrounds too. My dad’s dad was pretty well off whereas my mom’s parents were poor immigrant’s kids.

I remember a lot of “kicked by a horse” and “milk poisoning” as causes of death in our family history.

We’ve come a long way, and very few remember.
