re: #178 dat_said

I lost all my tools during my divorce from hell. I was always helping people with electrical, plumbing, appliance repair, etc. When I got asked for help after the divorce, I’d reply that I no longer had the tools.

Thus started a period where folks were buying me tools in exchange for helping them. It wasn’t long until I had a ton of new tools. Worked out great for everybody. They got the needed repairs for the cost of a tool (far cheaper than hiring someone) and I got nifty new tools.

I continue to help folks with repairs, but now have the means to help and don’t need any more tools. In fact, there is a room in the basement that is overflowing with tools.

One thing that continues to amaze me is all the improperly done work that so called professionals have done. For example I just repaired our whole house humidifier and had to shut off water to the whole house because no shut off had been installed. Don’t know if it was incompetence or just the desire to save a few dollars on the installation, but WTF??
