Ya gotta wonder if you actually won a billion dollars in the lotto about some basic things, like where to live.

Every relative you never heard of and every legitimate and scam charity will ring your telephone off the hook asking for money.

Is it better to live in a large city like Chicago or New York, where perhaps you can blend in with millions of people, or is it better to live in a tiny village like mine, where your town canโ€™t be found even with a guide and a supply train.

I thought about โ€œwhat would I do if I actually won the jackpot outright,โ€ and it seemed to me perhaps giving every adult in town a million dollars might be a way to help maintain my privacy. (I do have the problem of my name and address being listed in the telephone directory though.)

I would take the annuity payout. At sometime in the future I am going to die (dammit), and if that happens before my wife does, my VA disability is cut off and she is left without any money coming in. With the annuity, those payouts would likely last for the rest of her life.

My understanding is taxes would be higher, but really, when you have that much money does it matter? Plus I donโ€™t have objections to paying taxes: As it has been noted, taxes are the price of civilisation.
