re: #168 Dianna

The problem is, well, I don’t see these as red herrings.

Whenever assisted suicide comes up, listen to the reactions of the disabled. They really dread it, and they have cause.

We live in a democracy. So, the decision about what is allowed or what isn’t is ours. Under our Constitution, that decision is left up to each of the states. As with abortion, I don’t see the Federal government having a thing to say about the matter. I don’t consider this slope to be slippery because of the sensible resistance provided by those who don’t wish to travel down it much beyond the types of cases that most of us consider reasonable. The answer to “who decides?” is WE DO.

So yes, objections because one is afraid that some day we will condone assisted suicide for anyone who feels the blues is a red herring.
